Cut & Prepare

Fabric A: For machine embroidery - Cut 14" x 24". Measure and mark center of Fabric A. Center and mark an 8-1/2" x 22-1/2" rectangle on those marks. Transfer measurements, fold lines, seams and embroidery placement centered on Fabric A, according to Diagram 1 below.

Cut stabilizer to fit hoop, embroider individual designs. After embroidery is finished, check measurements. If embroidery skewed lines, redraw lines if needed. Trim to 8-1/2" x 22-1/2".

♦ Sew Velcro to Right Side of Fabric A. See Diagram 1 below.

Fabric B: Lining - Cut one, 8-1/2" x 14-1/2"
Gussets - Cut two, 3" x 14-1/2"
Soft & Stable (S&S): Cut one, 8" x 18" OR Fusible interfacing: Cut one, 8" x 22" and fuse, centered to Fabric A. Plus cut one, 8" x 14" and fuse, centered to Fabric B.

Place Fabric A RSU, with “Create” at top. With RST, pin Fabric B Lining to Fabric A, so that top edges are even. Sew across top edge. Pin bottom edges RST, sew across to form a loop. Press seam open.

Pin sides together, with “Create” seam at top. Sew both sides, leaving a 4” opening to turn. Clip corners, turn RSO. Press in opening to match. If using Soft & Stable, measure Pouch. If necessary, trim S&S to fit new measurements, then insert through opening. Work into corners, smooth out and press. Pin opening. See Diagram 2 below.

Topstitch across both fold lines and edgestitch both ends as indicated. Quilt if desired. See Diagram 3 below.

Fold each Fabric B strip in half RST to 1-1/2" x 14-1/2" for Gussets. Sew around with 2" opening to turn on long side. Clip corners, turn and press in opening to match. Make sure bobbin color matches Fabric A. With Lining side facing up, pin folded edge of Gusset to each long edge (to reduce bulk). Edgestitch, back-stitching at each end and catching the opening to close. See Diagram 4 below.

Pull Gussets out and fold Fabric B Lining and Gussets to back (inside out). Match up and pin Gusset ends.

Starting at Pocket top, edgestitch to bottom fold of Gusset. Backstitch at beginning and ends.

Turn RSO and press Gussets to inside. See Diagram 5 below.

Optional: Adjustable Buckle for top of Pocket:
Fold each end of 6" Ribbon over twice and topstitch across each. Thread through the adjustable end of a side-release Buckle. Topstitch one folded end across stitching lines of Pocket top. Thread 4" Ribbon through other side of Buckle with ends even, sew across ends. Turn Ribbon inside out to cover ends. Topstitch folded end across stitching lines of Flap Fold.
