Now that the correct COM port has been selected, the Magic Box should be communicating with your computer, and is ready for use. You have a number of choices for bringing up designs on the Converter Box screen. First, you can read a design from an existing card. To do this, insert a preprinted design card into the correct slot on the Magic Box that corresponds to the brand of card you will be reading from. The letters underneath "Load Card" that correspond to the slot the card is in will light up:
In the above example, a Pfaff/Artista card is entered in slot #2, lighting up the P/A button. This signifies there is a card in that slot and it can be read from. Clicking the P/A button under Load Card will bring up a box, asking you for the number of the design you wish to read off the card:
If you do not know the number of a particular design, or wish to view all the designs on the card, click the Browse button. A box will come up, telling you the designs are being read, then you will see the card's directory:
By clicking on a design, then clicking Load, the design will show up in the Converter Box screen:
Designs can also be loaded to the Converter Box screen by reading them off the hard drive, a floppy disk or CD. To use this option, first you must decide if you are more comfortable using a Windows 3.1 interface or a Windows 95 interface. Clicking on the Options button will bring up this choice at the bottom of the window:
The "Browse By Icon" selection will allow you to view files with the older, Windows 3.1 interface:
Clicking the arrow at the end of the "Directory" box will allow you to change the location the program looks in for designs:
Once the design directory is loaded, icons for all the designs will appear on the screen. Double-clicking a design will transfer it to the Converter Box screen.
