Using the Serial Port Magic Box Software -Page 4
Previous - Next

If you prefer to use the Windows 95-style interface, select Standard Windows from the Options menu, click OK, unplug and replug the Magic Box, then click OK again. You will use the File-Open feature to search for your designs:

This will bring up a standard, Windows Explorer-type interface:

Select the drive you want to look for your designs on, by clicking the arrow at the end of the "Look In" line:

For most computers, the A: drive is your floppy, the C: drive is your hard drive, and your CDRom drive will have a higher letter. If you are unsure about what letter your CDRom drive is, consult your computer's user manual. Once you have selected which drive you will search for your designs on, you will need to double-click the subfolders in the main part of the Open window until the icons for your designs show up. If you are looking for a particular type of file, you can select it by clicking the arrow at the end of the "Files Of Type" line:

filesoftype.jpg (3020 bytes)

Once you have found the design you are looking for, click on it, then click Open. Your design will then be displayed in the Converter Box screen:

designsloaded.jpg (37415 bytes)

You can load up to six designs at once, by using the File-Open feature each time. Since the Magic Box only stores information about stitch count, stitch length and needle penetrations, colors displayed on the Converter Box screen do not affect the outcome of the final design whatsoever. However, for aesthetic reasons, a Color Editor program has been included with the Magic Box software. To edit a design using this program, open the Color Editor using the shortcut on your desktop:

The Color Editor program will then open on your screen:
