Pictorial Guide to Using the OESD Sizing Magician by Simon Page 2 of 2
Now that the design is loaded into the Sizing Magician, you have a number of options. The easiest way to get to these options is to use the icons on the left side of your screen.
The first icon, which looks like a mouse arrow, is the Select Object Tool:
Clicking on this icon will select your entire design, turn it pink (or purple, depending on your computer) and place eight sizing squares at the corners and center point of each side:
By clicking and holding one of the black squares and moving the mouse, you can resize the design to look however you want. Moving the corner squares in toward or out away from the center cross will adjust the height and width uniformly. If you would like to adjust only the height or only the width, this can be accomplished using the black squares on the center point of each side. When you have the design where you want it, let go of the mouse pointer and the design will adjust itself to the new dimensions. You can check these dimensions at the bottom of your screen:
While the design is selected (pink), you can also use the other icons on the left-hand side of the screen to mirror the design:
You can rotate the design in increments of 45 degrees, by using the left and right mouse buttons on this icon:
You can also automatically scale the design up or down by 20 percent by using this icon:
Once you have the design looking the way you want it, you will need to save your changes onto your hard drive. You can do this by using the File-Save As command, which brings up this window:
Now that the "Save As" box is open on your screen, you have a number of options for saving your file. The first option is where you would like to save it. The "Save In" location at the top of the box can be adjusted by clicking the arrow at the end of this line:
From here, you can select the drive, folders and subfolder where you would like to save your design. Once you have the correct location listed in the "Save In" box, you will need to select the type of file you would like to save this design as. This is accomplished by clicking the arrow at the end of the "Save As Type" line and clicking on the correct format for the machine you own:
Notice that many of the more popular home-user formats are available. For this example, the .PES format is being used:
From here, you can also change the name of the file you are saving, if desired. Once you have everything set the way you want it, click the "Save" button:
Some formats may require you to select a hoop size after this step. Now the design is saved on your hard drive in the location you specified, in the format you specified, and under the name you specified. Repeat this process for any other .ART files you may wish to resize, mirror, rotate or convert to a different format. Additional features may be examined, and questions answered, by clicking on Help-Online Manual at the top of your OESD Sizing Magician screen:
