Supplies

Embroidery

Find the center of the fabric for embroidery and mark a vertical and horizontal line. Where the two lines intersect will be the center of the embroidery.

Adhere two layers of OESD Ultra Clean & Tear Stabilizer together with Temporary Adhesive Spray.

Spray the top of the stabilizer and adhere to the wrong side of the fabric for embroidery.

Hoop the three layers as one and attach the hoop to the machine.

Select and embroider the design of your choice.

Remove the hoop from the machine and the fabric from the hoop.

Carefully tear away the excess stabilizer from the back one layer at a time.

Keep the design centered and trim the embroidered piece to 4.5” x 4.5”.

Repeat until there are 30 embroidered squares. You will stitch all 26 letters and 4 additional designs of your choice.

Construction

NOTE: Sew all seams using a 1/4” seam allowance. Press all seams toward the sashing.

Lay the five squares across and six rows down on a flat surface.

Stitch a piece of sashing between each of the embroidered squares. (Trim to proper length after stitching.)

Sew the squares with the sashing into rows. (There will be no sashing strips on the outside ends of the strips.)

Stitch a strip of sashing fabric between each row of blocks.

Sew a strip of sashing fabric on all four sides.

Sew the 2.5” borders on all four sides.

Very lightly spray the batting with temporary spray adhesive.

Layer the Backing right side down, the batting and the pieced top right side up. The backing and batting will be larger than the quilt top at this point.

Quilt through all layers by stitching along the sashing seams or inside each square.

Fold the binding strip wrong sides together and press.

Place the binding along the front lower edge, matching the raw edges and stitch in place on all four sides. Stitch 1/4” away from the edge of the quilt top.

Trim away the excess batting and backing.

Hanging Sleeve (optional)

Finish the edges of the 2.25” x 31” piece for the sleeve by folding the two short edges in and topstitching.

Fold the piece in half, wrong sides together.

Center it on the top of the back matching the raw edges with the top edge of the wall hanging and stitch in place.

Fold the binding to the back and stitch in place by machine or by hand. Insert dowel rod.

Your wall hanging is complete!
