Embroidery

Thread embroidery machine with Isacord embroidery thread in both the top and the bobbin.

Scale design Fan #CC88224 as large as possible to max out the super-sized embroidery hoop.

Cut 2 layers of OESD Badgemaster at least 1” larger than your embroidery hoop.

Cut 1 layer of organza to match the Badgemaster.

Hoop these layers together with the organza sandwiched between the Badgemaster layers.

Stitch design Fan #CC88224 three times using this method. Set aside.

Cut 2 layers of OESD Badgemaster for your machine's medium size hoop.

Cut 1 layer of organza to match the Badgemaster.

Hoop these layers together with the organza sandwiched between the Badgemaster layers.

Stitch design FSL Butterfly #CC88203.

Remove all of the excess stabilizer by tearing it away from the embroidery designs. Do not discard. Using small, sharp scissors, carefully trim away all excess organza from the outside of the designs.

At the sewing machine

Thread sewing machine with the same Isacord embroidery thread in both the top and the bobbin as was used in the embroidery of design Fan #CC88224.

Attach Edgestitch foot to the machine if desired.

Line up the straight sides of 2 of the fans. Stitch together using a small zigzag stitch. The blade in the center of an Edgestitch foot will ride between the sides of each fan allowing you to have a perfectly aligned seam. Repeat stitching the three fans together to create a circle.

Construction

Place approximately 1 inch of water in the bottom of a small bucket. Rinse away any excess Badgemaster Stabilizer in this water.

Take approximately half of the excess Badgemaster that was kept from the steps above and place it in the water. Stir with your hands until the Badgemaster is dissolved. Thoroughly saturate the embroidered circle in this mixture.

Drape the circle over your basket. NOTE: If your basket is made of plastic, this step can be done directly on the basket. If the basket is made of wood, this step will be best done by covering you basket with a plastic bag to protect it.

Using string or twine, tie the embroidered circle around the basket and allow to dry.

Finishing steps

Fold under and glue approximately 1/4 inch of one end of the ribbon to create a finished edge.

Wrap the ribbon around the handle of the basket 2 times and glue to secure.

Continue wrapping the rest of the handle and glue at the other end. Wrap tightly and with each turn, move the ribbon approximately 1/2 inch toward the other side of the handle.

Remove plastic protection if necessary. Secure embroidery to your basket by tying with string or twine. Trim excess tails.

Measure the circumference of the basket and add 1 inch. Cut a piece of ribbon to this length.

Fold under and glue approximately 1/4 inch of one end of the ribbon to create a finished edge.

Place glue on all but the last 2 inches. Attach to the basket, covering the string used to secure embroidery. Turn raw edge under 1/4 inch and glue to create finished edge. Attach remaining loose end of ribbon to the basket with glue. Allow to dry.

Glue the FSL Butterfly to cover the end of the ribbon.

Your lovely lace basket is complete!
