LOVE Rag Wall Hanging


Create a quick four-patch rag quilt using the letters “L”, “O”, “V” and “E” from the Scrollwork Alphabet #12511 embroidery collection.  Choose different fabrics and colors of threads for a unique piece of art.  It is a simple and easy project.


SUPPLIES
•  OESD Embroidery Collection Scrollwork Alphabet #12511
•  OESD AquaFilm Backing Wash-Away Stabilizer
•  1/3 yd. of 4 fabrics
•  1/3 yd. white fleece or cotton batting
•  Isacord embroidery thread (your choice of colors)
•  Temporary spray adhesive

CUT
•  (2) 10” squares each of 4 fabrics
•  (4) 10” squares white fleece or cotton batting

PREPARE BLOCKS AND EMBROIDER
•  Layer each quilt block using 2 squares of the same fabric with one of the white fleece or cotton batting squares inside.  Use temporary spray adhesive on the fleece or cotton batting on both sides for the outside squares to adhere.  Repeat for 3 other fabrics.  


•  Center and hoop a quilt block using AquaFilm Backing. Stitch out “L” letter using the embroidery thread colors of your choice.  Set aside.  Repeat for 3 other quilt blocks and letters “O”, “V” & “E”.  Remove AquaFilm Backing.



ASSEMBLY
•  Pin the raw edges together of each quilt block.  Wrong sides together, pin the “L” quilt block and the “O” quilt block.  Stitch using a 1” seam allowance.  

•  Wrong sides together, pin the “V” quilt block and the “E” quilt block.  Stitch using a 1” seam allowance.  

•  Wrong sides together, pin the “L” & “O” section to the “V” & “E” section.  Stitch using a 1” seam allowance. 

Stitch 1” around all raw edges as shown.
 

•  To rag quilt, cut every ½” up to stitching line.  Wash and dry to create rag effect.
